		           2: About This Version
============================================================================

This version of the IBM Serial Web Utility can be used with all versions of
Windows(R) 95.

============================================================================
                            3: Before You Begin
============================================================================

Before installing the IBM Serial Web Utility, ensure you have installed:

- Dialup networking

- TCP/IP networking

These can be found on your Windows 95 CD-ROM.

You should also ensure that the Serial Web modem emulator on your PC and
the console port on the device you intend to manage have the same
configuration. The defaults for the console port are:

- Baud Rate = 19200

- Parity = None

- Character Size = 8

- Stop Bit = 1

- Flow Control = None (disabled)

============================================================================
                      4: Using the Serial Web Utility
============================================================================

Full instructions for using this utility are included in the user
documentation of your IBM product.

WINDOWS 95 LOGIN PROMPTS
When your PC is running standalone, Windows 95 may prompt you to log on to
the PC, log on to the network, or both. If you do not log on when you run
the Serial Web utility, you may be prompted to log on. The Serial Web
Utility functions correctly whether you log on or not.

============================================================================
                           5: Known Problems
============================================================================

The Serial Web Utility does not work if your PC has two network cards
that both use the TCP/IP protocol. This includes a combination of
EtherLink(R) III LAN PC Cards and EtherLink III LAN +33.6 Modem PC Cards.
Installing the Serial Web Utility does not affect the network cards. This
problem can be resolved by unbinding the TCP/IP protocol from one of the
network cards (using the Network applet in Control Panel). This is a known
problem with Windows 95, and is described in article Q140460 of the
Microsoft Knowledge Base (which can be accessed via the Microsoft Web site).
